If you have diabetes, it is important that you understand how to use your OneTouch meter that you have purchased.  There are a variety of OneTouch meters available on the market today to test your blood glucose, and all of these will require a process to get your blood glucose readings for you.  It is important that you are confident in how to take your glucose readings properly so that you get the correct reading every time.

The first thing that you have to do with your OneTouch meter is set it up. You want to be sure that you mark all the settings and get it done correctly so that it works properly for you.  Make sure that you set the date, time, and language preference on your OneTouch meter. That will keep everything up to date if you are going to download your results onto your computer to give to your doctor or to track for your records.

Box of OneTouch Ultra Blue Test StripsOnce that is all set, you need to know how to test with a OneTouch glucose meter. It is basic, you want to turn on your OneTouch meter and put a Ultra Blue test strip into it. With the test strip, you want to be sure that it is facing in the right direction so that it will read it. You are going to also have to confirm that the OneTouch code matches the bottle of test strips, if it doesn’t, you’ll want to toggle up and down until the code is the same.  From there, obtain your sample and apply the blood to the test strip. You’ll then have a reading in 5 seconds.

Using the OneTouch meter is very easy.  With the right instruction, using it will be a breeze and you will get accurate results every time.  It is important that you know how to use it correctly, otherwise, you are wasting your time and your test strips.
